7 October

Ok - now I'm in Dallas Tx and just had dinner after a long long long flight - had the kid's meal, about 75% of my normal sized meal.

Temperature has crashed - yesterday it was 80 today its 60 and I'm really feeling it. Left my Jumper at Home so I’m wearing 2 t-shirts, my rabbitohs jersey and my spray jacket.

These Texans are soooo polite - even people in the street.

Dallas is huge - but very very flat and well spread out.

Been for long walk and now pretty pooped.

Each room is connected by a non-sound proof door – means I can hear the conversations going on next door if I wish – I would if I could understand the accent – but it’s at least 3 women getting fir a night on the town.

Speak to you tomorrow - off to explore the 'burbs

Ding! 2.15am
3:30am local time in Dallas and wide awake listening to my neighbours come home from clubbing - very drunk and noisy……might try napping

8th October

Jet lag kicked in... finally got to sleep at 3.45 woke up at 10 - had an appointment with a masseuse across town at 10.30 - just made it by taxi - and I wore my Rabbitohs jersey inside out the whole way - cool or not!.

No happy ending here - after she drained my leg of fluid she identified a knot in my calf and a bigger one under my shoulder blade - she felt free to take out all here frustrations on those parts of my body.

All i can say is that I felt much better about an hour later.
I can recommend this Girl if you ever get to Dallas - Kendahl Avery.

Had a good day - I walked about 15K's over the course of the day. Had a breakfast Bagel served by a woman half my height and twice my weight - I figured she ate her own cooking so it must be good.

Walked back through the suburbs – Dallas is so flat I could see the centre of town so it was simple to just walk towards the tallest buildings which were about 5 K’s away. Lots of nice apartment blocks and some really expensive looking shops. Not sure if it was because it was Sunday morning but no one around (except in their cars).

And remember when you come in - no smoking and No guns!

As I came back into town I came across a Latino Street festival. Lots of Spanish speaking people from all over central America. Even a Miss Latino Dallas beauty competition – hair piled high, lots of make-up and glitter, fabulous dresses (all very demure of course) , sashes and lots of contest mums shouting out in Spanish. I think it was Smile! Push out those boobs, Suck in your belly! Head up!

Every one well dressed with several guys in cowboys boots, with large Texas belt buckles and large white (Sunday best) Stetsons.

Went to the JFK memorial and museum - there are two 'X''s on the road where the fatal shots hit the president. Stood on the grassy knoll and watch American’s run out onto the roadway to have their photos taken pointing at the ‘X’ between the traffic.  Crazy!
X marks the spot!

The Museum is pretty cool – lots of memorabilia and photos from the time.  Lots of conspiracy theories also presented - some quite out there and a few quite though provoking. Was it the Mafia, the Russians or Cuba or perhaps the Industrial Military Complex - or just one crazy guy – We’ll never know.

All I can say there are way too many unanswered co-incidences.

Went to the spot here the shot was taken from ( it’s all glassed in with the boxes arranged the way Lee Harvey Oswald set them up)- all I can say it was a hell of a shot -3 shots fired for two hits on a target that was accelerating away and dropping away.

I can see why the Gunnery Sergeant in Full metal jacket said what he said about marine rifle training.

Only having two meals a day as the servings are huge - had two pork chops for tea (and that was Ok - but I think the 4 cups of mashed potato and 3 of creamed corn that they laid on was a bit much - the waitress thought that I was either sick or didn't like the food - and after telling her I was full she bought over the treat and desert trolley - now that's service (and yes I was full).

Had a coffee with half and half - half cream and half milk...... yeah I thought so too - pretty sad.

Getting quite cool now is dark and quite over cast. Cold wind blowing in from the west. Need a hot show and some sleep.

The woman in the next room is yelling out yeeee zoooowe. Wtf! That's a newie

Having to sleep with iPod on again

9th October

Deep fried bacon for breakfast! All oily and crispy at the same time.

Off to the Texas state fair and exploring. My lovers from next door are still asleep the only question is should I leave the TV on loud when I go I - hold that thought they just woke up and are at it again!

Man has he got some stamina!

Dallas is a city of Car parks - i think the locals only walk from their cars occasionally - I saw a drive through full service bank today - i.e. no atm - you drive up talk to the teller like in a Macca’s drive through, and then drive up to the window - Can you imagine how hard it would be to rob that bank!

Bought a 24 hr. pass for the Dallas transport system and got around town on public transport - great fun - completely clean, completely safe and still managed to walk a good 15k's.
Dallas (Tick) - good day did the Texas state fare - like the Royal Easter show without the craft section and 5 times as much retail.

Watched a woman who I couldn’t get my arms around (or probably across really) chow down on a supersized, roasted turkey leg - the thing was as big as my forearm. – and in her other hand she had a large cup ( Boost Juice size) full of bar-b-q sauce which she dunked the thing in between bites. Her husband, who was about half her size, carried another two in his hands
Anyone for Fried Beer?

MMMMMMMM... a Sundae made out of Beef!

How about...

Headed uptown to a suburb called Mockingbird to do a Bikram Yoga class – I promised to do at least one while I was away. Only got a little lost and found the studio quite easily.  Nice people and I had a good class – well, I didn’t really but it helped get over the jet lag and the stiffness in my back, legs and hips.

Caught the train back to town and headed across to the House of Blues for dinner – great anticipation! Yes! House of blues! Er no…….

Some holiday in Dallas and the place was quiet – only 3 customers! No Blues music. No razzle . no dazzle. No retail – man! I wanted a HoB T! Had a burger and fries, a beer and watch a Football game that I didn’t understand ( Gridiron)

I'm knackered going to bed now to get up at 4.45 for my airport transport - I wonder if my lovers are still at it.
I worked out today that allot of the noise was one of them actually slapping the other on the butt - that was beside all the vocalisation. For some reason I have in my mind a really huge black woman and a regular sized guy - she certainly sounded like a woman of substance.

Anyway….

Farewell Dallas
